Wataakashi-hen, Part 1 (綿明し編其ノ壱, Cotton-Revealing Chapter, Part 1) is the fourth episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu and the first episode of Wataakashi-hen.
Summary
Rika Furude wakes in the Sea of Fragments, unable to remember how she died. She discusses her failures with Hanyuu before moving to a new fragment. Meanwhile, this conversation is viewed by Eua and Satoko Houjou, who discuss how to further torture Rika.
In the next fragment, Satoko visits her uncle Teppei Houjou and asks to be taken to the horse races. Using Satoko's foreknowledge, the pair win a large sum of money via gambling. That night, Satoko gets Teppei drunk and learns of a contact from whom she can buy a handgun.
Rika and Satoko join the rest of the club for a series of games at Da Vinci. Keiichi Maebara receives an effeminate doll as a prize, which he gives to Mion. Unbeknownst to Mion, Satoko drugs her with H-173.
