Satokowashi-hen, Part 1 (郷壊し編其ノ壱, Village-Destroying Chapter, Part 1) is the eighteenth episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Gou.
Summary
The episode begins at the end of Matsuribayashi-hen, wherein Miyo Takano's plan is foiled and Rika Furude successfully escapes the loops in Hinamizawa. The story skips to a year later, in June 1984. Mion Sonozaki has graduated and moved to Okinomiya and Keiichi Maebara has taken her positions as both class rep and club president. During club activities, Rika leaves early and Satoko Houjou follows her. On the walk home, the pair talk about how Hinamizawa has changed over the past year.
Later, Rika and Satoko visit the Irie Clinic for a routine checkup and learn that Satoko's Hinamizawa Syndrome has been completely cured. Kyousuke Irie reveals to Rika that cases of Hinamizawa Syndrome have been declining for the past year. That night, Rika calls for a meeting with Kiichirou Kimiyoshi and Oryou Sonozaki to discuss an addition to the Watanagashi Festival. During the Festival, the three make a joint speech as the heads of the Three Great Houses, formally ending the Dam War and publicly denouncing the existence of the curse of Oyashiro.
Some time later, Rika and Satoko visit a bookstore in Okinomiya. Rika reveals to Satoko her desire to study for the entrance exams to St. Lucia Academy and asks Satoko to study with her so that the pair can join the academy together.
