Oniakashi-hen, Part 1 (鬼明し編其ノ壱, Demon-Revealing Chapter, Part 1) is the first episode of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Sotsu.
Summary
On June 10, 1983, Keiichi Maebara, Rena Ryuuguu, Mion Sonozaki, Satoko Houjou, and Rika Furude prepare for school. Rena has become increasingly upset with her father's relationship with a girl in Okinomiya named Rina Mamiya. While her father is out, Rena finds one of Rina's business cards in his room.
Later, Satoko injects Rena with H-173 in her sleep. As a result, Rena develops terminal symptoms of Hinamizawa Syndrome. Rena learns that her father has been squandering the money he received in his divorce settlement on Rina. Fearing that her family is going to fall apart again, she goes to Okinomiya and tracks down Rina.
