I am furniture.

Kanon (嘉音), also known as Yoshiya (嘉哉), is a servant working under the Ushiromiya family on Rokkenjima. He is extremely quiet and reserved and strongly feels he is inferior to humans. He has feelings for Jessica Ushiromiya but is unwilling to act on them due to his position as a servant and his belief that furniture are unworthy of love.

Profile

Background

Kinzo Ushiromiya, after the death of his lover, Beatrice Castiglioni, became infatuated with his daughter, Beatrice Ushiromiya. Beatrice Ushiromiya strongly resembled her mother and Kinzo, in a state of madness, believed her to be the reincarnation of his dead lover. He forced himself on her and impregnated her. Beatrice Ushiromiya gave birth to Sayo Yasuda. In order to hide Kinzo's sin from the world, Kinzo and Genji Ronoue offered the child to Natsuhi Ushiromiya, who had been having trouble conceiving a child of her own. Natsuhi, distressed and angry at the offer, pushed the servant carrying the child, resulting in both the servant and the infant Sayo falling off of a cliff. The servant died upon impact with the rocky bottom, however Sayo miraculously survived. Unfortunately, Sayo sustained heavy injury to the abdominal and genital regions, resulting in severe mutilation.

After the incident, Sayo adopts the name Kanon as an alias for one of her split personalities.

Kanon is skilled in hand-to-hand combat and was capable of battling and defeating Lucifer in Banquet of the Golden Witch.

Appearance

Kanon appears as a young man with relatively long black hair and grey eyes. He typically wears form-fitting black clothing with white cuffs and a white collar emblazoned with the One-Winged Eagle along with a lopsided red hat. He wears a purple ascot around his neck.

Personality

Kanon is particularly attached to Genji and Kumasawa, viewing them as parental figures. Conversely, he holds a strong distaste for Gohda.

When using supernatural powers, Kanon's abilities typically manifest as forms of offense, typically a blade of energy that sprouts from his arm.

Plot

Dawn of the Golden Witch

Kanon and Shannon have several conversations about love, culminating in Shannon convincing Kanon to confess his feelings to Jessica. He does so, beginning a romantic relationship. Shortly afterward, Kanon and Shannon use a golden butterfly brooch to summon the demons of love, Zepar and Furfur. The demons promise that one of them will be able to fulfill their romantic fantasies, but they will have to entire a series of trials to determine who wins that opportunity. The trials are expanded when Chick Beatrice also enters them with the intent of pursuing a relationship with BATTLER. After BATTLER becomes trapped in a Logic Error and Chick Beatrice is forcefully made to withdraw from the game, Kanon and Shannon settle the fight for love with a Western-style duel. Shannon ultimately wins and Kanon is killed. His lingering spirit then offers to help Chick Beatrice save BATTLER from the Logic Error.

Twilight of the Golden Witch

Kanon is the tenth person to pose a quiz to Ange Ushiromiya during the Halloween party. His puzzle requires knowledge of the periodic table and atomic numbers. Due to the improbability of a six-year-old knowing this information, Eva answers the question in Ange's stead.

Trivia

  • Kanon's birthday is October 6 in that Sayo created the character of Kanon on October 6.
  • Like the other servants from the Fukuin House, Kanon has the character "音" in his name.
