Legend of the Golden Witch/TIPS

Character TIPS

Kinzo Ushiromiya

Elderly head of the Ushiromiya family. Even as his precious little time left is sentenced, he is in high spirits. He amassed a vast fortune, but by not revealing anything about his succession, he torments his sons and daughters. He is influenced by the West, and is a rabid occult maniac. His study is full of strange grimoires.
Upon Disappearance: Disappeared from his study unnoticed. Since Kinzo has every commodity, bed, lavatory, and bath in his study, it is extremely rare for him to go outside. Once in a while, however, it has happened that he goes out for a walk on a whim, without informing anyone, and has many times caused an uproar in the house. This would be the time when, normally, since he is hungry, he returns; however...
Upon Death: Burned in the incinerator, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing his forehead. An old black magician, he dies without his wishes being granted. This is one fact of the evil wager that he knew from the beginning.

Krauss Ushiromiya

Kinzo's first child. As the eldest son of four siblings, he is in a position to lead the family meeting. However, to the other siblings, it seems that he is trying to monopolize the fortune, which intensifies the clash with the siblings. He is a real estate investor and is heavily interested in the development of a resort. However, the results are being severely criticized.
Upon Death: His corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. The direct cause of death is unknown but, it seems the side of his head was destroyed after his death. First of all, it's the beginning of everything.

Natsuhi Ushiromiya

Krauss' wife. She manages the Ushiromiya family instead of her husband who doesn't pay any attention to his household. She took charge of the preparations, the arrangements, and everything for this family meeting by herself. She has a strong sense of responsibility, and is very proud. However, she is not understood by her husband and his siblings, so it can't be said that her situation is enviable.
Upon Death: She was found shot before the portrait of the Witch. To challenge the Witch with a firearm, she had truly no idea of her proper place. The outcome was obvious. Kihihihihihihihihihihi.

Eva Ushiromiya

Kinzo's second child. Hostile towards her brother Krauss, and takes a stance to confront him in every way possible, from issues of the fortune to the succession of the head of the family. Originally she would have lost her place in the register of the Ushiromiya family when she got married, but since she made her husband, who took her family name, be recognized, the whole story forcibly came to a halt.
Upon Death: She was found in a guest room inside the mansion, on the bed, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing her forehead. The room had its windows and door locked from the inside, and even the chain was set. There is no way a human being could kill her.

Hideyoshi Ushiromiya

Eva's husband. He was adopted into the Ushiromiya family as Eva's husband. Since he does not have the spiteful genes of the Ushiromiya family, that cheerful, smiling face is very precious in the family meetings. He started his business from scratch, and now works as president of a medium-sized restaurant chain. Its performance is extremely promising because of its growth.
Upon Death: He was found in a bathroom of the same guest room as Eva, and like Eva, there was an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing his forehead. No one can be seen from the chain's gap. He can't be seen and can't be reached. Hey, how could a human being kill him? Kihihihihihihihihihihihi.

Rudolf Ushiromiya

Kinzo's third child. Together with his sister Eva, at the family meeting he strengthens the goal of not allowing the eldest brother Krauss monopolize their father's fortune. He lost his previous wive, Asumu, six years ago and afterwards immediately entered his second wive Kyrie in the family register.
Upon Death: His corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. His face is believed to have been damaged after his death. He has the right to lament his bad luck.

Kyrie Ushiromiya

Rudolf's wife. Second wife. She has had a long association with him as his business partner, and after the death of his previous wife, she publicly made the place of legal wife her own. She has worked as his right arm in handling several shady pieces of business, which led them to success. She is quick thinking, and trusts Rudolf implicitly.
Upon Death: Her corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. Her face is believed to have been damaged after her death. The Devil's roulette chose. It's that simple.

Rosa Ushiromiya

Kinzo's forth child. She is by far the youngest child of the four siblings. Because of that, it seems that she has much less influence in the family meetings. She manages a design company, but it's nothing more than a pastime and it seems that the management conditions are less than sweet-smelling.
Upon Death: Her corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. Her face is believed to have been damaged after her death. Another meeting is possible. So, no sadness.

George Ushiromiya

Eva's and Hideyoshi's son. He is an affable young man, and is liked by everyone in the family. He is an apprentice to his father's company, and it looks like he finally has dreams of independence. He is the oldest of the four cousin and often acts as a peacemaker.
Upon Death: Missing. Even though he managed to meet again with all his close friends in the Golden Land, all the magic came to nothing because of a stubborn fool. Afterwards, he had even his bones gnawed upon by demons, and went to hell.

Jessica Ushiromiya

Krauss' and Natsuhi's daughter. If things can go properly, one can consider that before long she will become the heiress of the Ushiromiya family (strictly speaking, her husband). However, it seems that she herself takes no interest in that. Her bronchi are weak from birth and she can have sudden asthma fits.
Upon Death: Missing. Even though she was beckoned to the long awaited Golden Land, all the magic ended up vanishing because of one fool who didn't believe in the Witch. Afterwards, she was torn to pieces and eaten by the demons, and went to hell.

Battler Ushiromiya

The son of Rudolf and his previous wife, Asumu. Six years ago, he rebelled against his father who had entered his second wife in the very time he was bereaved of his mother. He went to live with his maternal grandparents. However, his grandparents died one after the other, and six years later, he has returned to the Ushiromiya family.
Upon Death: Missing. He is the fool who made the world where everyone could be happy come to nothing. Even though Beatrice is infuriated, for some reason she is enjoying herself immensely. It's as if he is an amusing toy she has obtained after one thousand years. I hope that you too can see this amusing fool soon.

Maria Ushiromiya

Rosa's daughter. The father is unknown. She is often gotten mad at for using baby talk. She has no concern whatsoever for studies or friends; however, she shows a strong interest for the occult, black magic and such and memorizes as many inconsistent bits and pieces of information with her natural gift of memorization.
Upon Death: Missing. Kihihihihihihihihihi.

Genji Ronoue

He is the head butler who manages the servants who work for the Ushiromiya family. He is the one who has served Kinzo the longest, and has earned his greatest trust. Since he is Kinzo's immediate servant, he is thought of as Kinzo's spy by Krauss and his wife.
Upon Death: Was found in the parlour, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing his stomach, and furthermore, his face destroyed. At the sixth twilight, gouge the stomach and kill.

Terumasa Nanjo

Kinzo's attending physician and long time friend. He was a medical practitioner on Niijima, but he turned the hospital over to his son to spend his old years in tranquility. He is one of the few people Kinzo, who has grown fanatical in his suspicions, opens his heart to. He has a very big-hearted disposition, and has come to the island for a long time, never getting upset by Kinzo's hot temper.
Upon Death: Was found in the parlour, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing his thigh, and furthermore, his face destroyed. At the seventh twilight gouge the knee and kill.

Toshiro Gohda

The servant employed as a chef. He has not served here long, but the reception talents he honed in his previous work are polished, and his appraisal is high. Since he is the servant Krauss and his wife hired, it seems he is more trusted than the senior servants who are thought of more as Kinzo's spies.
Upon Death: His corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. His face is believed to have been damaged after his death. Such a pity. The truth is it seems he was on duty at the guesthouse.

Chiyo Kumasawa

She has resigned in the middle of her job many times, but generally speaking, she is an elderly woman who works part-time and has much experience. She knows how to get things done, and her skills as a servant are by no means small, but since she loves gossip and is quite talkative, she doesn't receive much appraisal.
Upon Death: Was found in the parlour, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing her calf, and furthermore, her face destroyed. At the eight twilight, gouge the leg and kill.

Shannon

A young, but experienced servant. Usually, she calmly handles her work flawlessly, but when she is in a hurry, her errors increase. Furthermore, Shannon is a pseudonym strictly used during work, and is not her real name.
Upon Death: Her corpse was found inside the storehouse of the rose garden. The side of her head was believed to have been damaged after her death. It's alright. Everyone will resurrect in the Golden Land.

Kanon

A young servant. He handles his work in silence, but he is sullen and his appraisal is not high. There are several other servants who have "on" in their pseudonym. That day, he and Shannon just happened to be on duty.
Upon Death: Was found in the boiler room, with an ice-pick type murder weapon piercing his chest. He truly does not know his place as furniture.

Beatrice

The Golden Witch who has lived a thousand years. She has already strayed from the domain of humans, and it is said that as demons do, she appears when summoned by a human and lends him her power for a compensation of equivalent value. The things she likes are black tea and ice cream. The things she hates are boredom and people who deny her.
After pressing Execute: It's a useless dream to try and kill me with a human body. Even if you shoot lead bullets, they will rebound to your pitiful body, as from a mirror. However, there is only one way to kill me. It is possible to grasp that way with your hands. But it's most likely impossible for a simple man like you, I suppose? Kihihihihihihihihihihihi! *cackle* *cackle* *cackle*

TIPS

Epitaph of the Portrait

Behold the sweetfish river running through my beloved hometown.
You who seek the Golden Land, follow its path downstream in search of the key.

As you travel down it, you will see a village.
In that village, look for the shore the two will tell you of.
There sleeps the key to the Golden Land.

The one who obtains the key must then travel to the Golden Land in accordance with these rules.

On the first twilight, offer the six chosen by the key as sacrifices.
On the second twilight, those who remain shall tear apart the two who are close.
On the third twilight, those who remain shall praise my noble name.
On the fourth twilight, gouge the head and kill.
On the fifth twilight, gouge the chest and kill.
On the sixth twilight, gouge the stomach and kill.
On the seventh twilight, gouge the knee and kill.
On the eighth twilight, gouge the leg and kill.
On the ninth twilight, the witch shall revive, and none shall be left alive.
On the tenth twilight, the journey shall end, and you shall reach the capital where the gold dwells.

The witch shall praise the wise and bestow four treasures.
One shall be all the gold from the Golden Land.
One shall be the resurrection of all the dead souls.
One shall be the resurrection of the love that was lost.
One shall be to put the witch to sleep for all time.

Sleep peacefully, my most beloved witch, Beatrice.

The Witch's Letter

Welcome to Rokkenjima, everyone of the Ushiromiya family. I am serving Kinzo-sama as the alchemist-adviser of this house and my name is Beatrice. I was serving him obeying a contract that extended for many years but, today, Kinzo-sama sentenced the end of that contract.

Consequently, during today, I’ll have my duty as alchemist-adviser of the family to come to a closure, so please be understanding of that. Then, I must explain one part of the contract to everyone here. I, Beatrice, did loan a vast amount of gold to Kinzo-sama but with a certain condition.

As for that condition, he will return me all the gold by the end of the contract. And as an interest, I can accept everything of the Ushiromiya family. Upon hearing this, everyone will probably lament as Kinzo-sama is being too merciless.

However, Kinzo-sama, in order to give a chance to leave the wealth and fortune to everyone, added a special clause. Only when that clause is satisfied, I’ll eternally lose my right to collect the gold and the interest.”

Special Clause: When the contract ends, Beatrice will have the right to collect the gold and the interest. However, if a person who disclose the hidden gold of the contract appears, Beatrice must eternally and completely abdicate of this right …From now on, the collect of the interest will be performed but, if whoever one person among everyone can satisfy the special clause,

Everything will be returned including the part already collected.

Furthermore, as an outset of the collect, I already have received in my custody the “Finger Ring of the Head of the Ushiromiya Family” that indicates that he succeeded the inheritance of the Ushiromiya family.

Please, confirm with the wax seal.

About the hiding place of the gold, Kinzo-sama already publicly announced it at the inscription under my portrait. The conditions are equal to all the people who can read the inscription. If the gold is disclosed, I will return everything. With that, please, enjoy to the fullest your battle of wits with Kinzo-sama.

I’m praying from the bottom of my heart that tonight turns out to be an intellectual and yet elegant night.

――Beatrice the Golden

Sawed-off Winchester M-1894

A sawed-off custom version of a rifle manufactured during the golden age of Winchesters.

This special model more than makes up for its shorter lethal range by its portability and old-time cool factor. It can even be fired as quickly as a pistol if one works the lever action skillfully enough. Furthermore, any true lover of old western dramas can't help but be attracted to the one-handed reload made possible by its characteristic lever handle.

To match with Kinzo's personal preferences, it was made to handle .45 long-colt bullets.

The gun holds 4+1 shots

The Seven Stakes of Purgatory

Stakes containing the seven magics that represent the seven deadly sins.
In accordance with their user's orders, they bury themselves into the desired location of the desired target with perfect accuracy. Because they flit about at ultra-high speeds and change their trajectories at will by bouncing off the walls and the like, they have no blind spots, and will hit their targets without fail no matter what form of cover they might be hiding behind.
Furthermore, it is possible to change the force they hit with depending on the part of the body at which they strike.

They are extremely powerful as weapons, but they cannot target pure people who have not committed one of the seven deadly sins or people who have a strong resistance to magical power.
