Hameln (ハメルン, Hamerun) is a youkai in Higanbana no Saku Yoru ni. As he is a relatively new youkai, he is unranked among the school youkai. It is said that if one hears the sound of castanets in the music room, they will be transformed into a rat. However, Hameln has the power to transform humans into any small animal, not just rats.

Hameln appears as a man whose body is largely obscured by a long, navy blue cape with golden epaulettes. His hair is split between several different colors and he is always seen wearing a white mask. It is said that Hameln is a frightful man when he removes his mask. However, Hameln's love for masks keeps his face obscured. Hikaru Nihei once notes that Hameln's eyes are red just as a rabbits' eyes are.

Hameln originally used a pipe as his instrument of choice, however he found it difficult to monologue while using it and thus changed to castanets.
Hameln is likely inspired by the Pied Piper of Hamelin.
