It is said that if one hears the sound of castanets in the music room, they will be transformed into a rat. However, Hameln has the power to transform humans into any small animal, not just rats.

Hameln appears as a man whose body is largely obscured by a long, navy blue cape with golden epaulettes. His hair is split between several different colors and he is always seen wearing a white mask. It is said that Hameln is a frightful man when he removes his mask. Hikaru Nihei once notes that Hameln's eyes are red just as a rabbits' eyes are.
