After [[Bernkastel]] seals the [[chapel]] away in a time-locked Fragment, she has Lion work with [[Willard H. Wright]] as his partner. Together, the two attempt to solve the murder of Beatrice. Willard eventually comes to the conclusion that Beatrice was killed by one of two different culprits, depending on the Fragment. Lion is one of the two, who "kills" Beatrice by existence alone; in a Fragment wherein Lion exists, Beatrice the witch does not. Conversely, in Fragments wherein Beatrice the witch exists, Lion does not (which is why Lion is not in any arc prior to {{requiem}}). During this, Lion learns about their true heritage as both Kinzo's child and grandchild.
