Dlanor A. Knox is a member of Eiserne Jungfrau, the 7th District Repentance Enforcement Agency of the Great Court of Heaven, the head Inquisitor of Heresy and a first class archbishop. She is commonly known as "Dlanor of the Ten Wedges" or "Death Sentence Dlanor". She gets the name "Death Sentence" because, though Inquisitors of Heresy normally judge their targets to see whether they deserve the death penalty or not, Dlanor, as head of the Inquisitor, is only dispatched after a case has been vigorously inspected by the Great Court. Therefore, the very act of dispatching her is equivalent to a death sentence. Her father was a legendary Inquisitor of Heresy, but he broke the rules and was executed. She was the one who interrogated and executed him. Since that time, she has stopped growing, and both her body and mind remain eternally those of a young girl. It is whispered that her heart also died at the moment, but she does not see it that way. Her primary weapons are the "Red Key" and the "Blue Key", which take the form of a long sword and a short sword.

Plot

Trivia

  • Dlanor's father is English detective fiction author Ronald A. Knox who, in 1929, assembled a list of rules for writing detective fiction, known in-universe as Knox's Decalogue.
  • Dlanor is Ronald spelled backwards.
  • Dlanor frequent utterance of "DEATH" is the result of a speech quirk. In Japanese, the end of Dlanor's sentences are written in katakana, which was translated as the use of capital letters. As a result, many of Dlanor's sentences end with "DEATH" as "DEATH" is similar sounding to "desu", a copula that is frequently the last word in Japanese sentences.
