Red Truth

The Red Truth (赤き真実, Akaki Shinjitsu) is a rule and weapon introduced by Beatrice in Turn of the Golden Witch. The Red Truth was conceived as a counter to Battler Ushiromiya's Devil's Proof.

Anything stated in the Red Truth is a fact that can be presented unquestionably without evidence. However, while the Red Truth is undeniable, it can have multiple interpretations. The Red Truth is an essential part of a battle between Humans and witches. If the Human side doesn't believe in the Red Truth then the trust between the two sides will falter and the game will move into a stalemate. Additionally, in order to avoid stalemates or deadlock situations, questions that leave no room for further discussion are prohibited from being answered in red (e.g. asking whether witches exist).

Turn of the Golden Witch

  1. When I speak the truth, I will use red.
  2. Everything I speak in red is the truth.
  3. Regardless of whether they were living or dead, the six people definitely entered through the door. (This refers to the six murders in the chapel.)
  4. Only one key to the chapel exists.
  5. It is impossible to unlock the lock to the chapel without the chapel's key.
  6. When the door to the chapel is locked, it prevents any and all methods of entry or exit.
  7. The six people definitely entered through 'this front door.'
  8. This morning, Rosa definitely took an envelope out of Maria's handbag, and thereby obtained the genuine key to the chapel. ("This morning" refers to the morning of the second day.)
  9. The key to the chapel truly was the object inside the envelope I gave Maria.
  10. The letter that I handed over to Maria and the one Rosa opened are the same thing.
  11. The only master keys are the ones that each servant holds, one per person.
  12. ...there are absolutely no types of hidden doors. (This refers to Jessica's room.)
  13. This door is the only way in or out.
  14. The only way to lock this door is with Jessica's single key or the master keys, only one of which is held by each servant.
  15. ...the window is locked from the inside.
  16. Kanon was killed in this room.
  17. When locked, entry is not possible by any means.
  18. No trick could have the effect of locking the door from the outside without using a key.
  19. Kanon was killed in this room. (Refers to R2-16)
  20. There are no hidden doors in this room. (Refers to R2-12)
  21. There is no way to get in or out other than the door and the window. (Refers to R2-13 and R2-15)
  22. ...there are no hidden doors. (Refers to R2-20)
  23. [Those are] kept in the key box in the center of the servants' room.
  24. [There are several keys to the servants' room, but] all of those are inside the key box.
  25. Entry or exit is impossible except for the single door and single window.
  26. ...and those were both locked.
  27. The door and the window do not permit any kind of entry or exit when they are locked.
  28. ...it is impossible to unlock the door without a key to the servants' room or the master key.
  29. No one exists in this room except all of you.
  30. 'All of you' refers to Battler, George, Maria, Rosa, Genji, Gohda, and Shannon.
  31. When Jessica's corpse was discovered, only Battler, George, Maria, Rosa, Genji, Gohda, Shannon, Kumasawa, and Nanjo were in Jessica's room.
  32. Jessica is also included. (Refers to R2-31)
  33. Therefore, both in the case of Jessica's room and the case in this servants' room, no humans exist that you were not aware of.
  34. No one is hiding.
  35. No method exists by which the door can be locked from the outside without using a key. Regarding the window, no method exists by which it could somehow be locked from the outside.
  36. You are incompetent.
  37. hi-hhihihhihihihihihihihihihihi
  38. Come on, Ushiromiya Battler, kneel.
  39. If you accept me, all of the riddles will be resolved.
  40. With my power, any kind of closed room can be created or destroyed.
  41. I'll make you my favorite furniture.
  42. I'll love you so much, and make you my toy until you turn to ashes.
  43. *cackle*cackle*cackle*hihihihihihihihihihihyahyahyahhahhahahaha-hhahahahhahhahhahhahhahhahha
  44. There are only five master keys.
  45. There are only five master keys.
  46. ...there are only five master keys.
  47. I keep my promises. (Said by Beatrice)
  48. Natsuhi's room was exactly the same, just like usual.
  49. The door and the windows were locked from the inside.
  50. There is no fraud or trick, there is no means of secret passage and no hidden place.
  51. Natsuhi's own key was in George's pocket, and the inside of the room was closed off.
  52. Only the five master keys were left, and 'Rosa' was holding all of them.
  53. And let me say this, the parlor's the same.
  54. The original key to the parlor is sealed in the servants' room.
  55. So unlocking it without the master key is impossible! The definition of a closed room is the same as always!

Banquet of the Golden Witch

  1. Of all of the doors that exist on Rokkenjima, none has a crack through which a key can slip.
  2. I have the power to speak the truth in red.
  3. In the forest of Rokkenjima, a hidden mansion called Kuwadorian exists.
  4. ...those two actually had a conversation like that in this place. (Refers to Kinzo and Beatrice Ushiromiya)
  5. This is the world of 1967.
  6. In 1967, in a hidden mansion on Rokkenjima, Beatrice-sama existed as a human.
  7. It's definitely dead. (Refers to Beatrice Ushiromiya)
  8. There are no more than 18 people on this Rokkenjima. ("This Rokkenjima" refers to the Rokkenjima of 1986.)
  9. There are five, one for each servant. (Refers to the master keys)
  10. Furthermore, all of the doors and windows in the 6 rooms are normal. ("The 6 rooms" refers to the parlor, the chpael, the boiler room, the VIP room, the waiting room, and the guest room.)
  11. No device exists which can lock them without a key, such as an auto-lock.
  12. 6 people: Kinzo, Genji, Shannon, Kanon, Gohda, and Kumasawa are dead!
  13. There is no one hiding in the six rooms!

  16. The six people were not killed by traps.
  17. None of the six people committed suicide!
  18. There are no more than 18 people on this island.
  19. Rosa and Maria died.
  20. The cause of death was as Nanjo diagnosed. (The diagnosis refers to the diagnosis for Rosa and Maria who were killed by a stab to the medulla oblongata with a pointed fence gate and strangling, respectively.)
  21. Rosa and Maria were killed by other people.
  22. I was in the room the whole time. (Said by Hideyoshi Ushiromiya in EVA's stead; "the room" refers to the room on the guesthouse's second floor.)
  23. Both before and after the time period of the crime...
  24. Kyrie was thinking that food was unnecessary.
  25. ...she claimed that they should not leave the guesthouse. ("She" refers to Kyrie Ushiromiya)
  26. [And yet, she herself] suggested that they leave the guesthouse to get food. ("She" refers to Kyrie Ushiromiya)
  27. ...the reason she changed her mind was not told to anyone, nor was it written down. ("She" refers to Kyrie Ushiromiya)
  28. Until the last instant before she died, Kyrie preserved her pattern of behavior which states, 'not going to get food equals not going to the mansion.'
  29. Kyrie did not leave anything written down.
  30. After Jessica was injured, Eva was always under Battler's supervision. (From this point on, all remaining red text for this game refers to this scenario.)
  31. Battler is neither the culprit nor an accomplice.
  32. By this, we can establish a perfect alibi for Eva.
  33. There are no more than 18 people on this island.
  34. No life forms other than humans have any connection to this game.
  35. Kinzo is dead.
  36. Krauss is dead.
  37. Natsuhi is dead.

  50. The 15 people mentioned are dead.
  51. Battler is alive.
  52. Eva is alive.
  53. Jessica is alive.
  54. Eva was with you the whole time. ("you" refers to Battler Ushiromiya)
  55. So committing a crime was impossible for her. ("Her" refers to Eva Ushiromiya.)
  56. Of course, Battler-kun isn't the culprit.
  57. He wasn't forging an alibi for her, and he took the possibility that she was the culprit into account, watching her actions carefully. ("He" refers to Battler Ushiromiya.)
  58. No chance existed for her to do anything suspicious! ("Her" refers to Eva Ushiromiya.)
  59. In short, at the time of the crime, only Nanjo and Jessica were in the servants' room.
  60. Ushiromiya Jessica has not committed murder.
  61. She was not involved with Nanjo's murder.
  62. Her eyes were completely blocked.
  63. It's impossible for her to carry out a murder like that.
  64. Neither Eva nor Battler killed Nanjo, nor were they involved.
  65. The culprit who killed Nanjo was neither Battler nor Eva nor Jessica.
  66. Jessica's eyes were completely blocked, and murder was impossible for her.
  67. No actions caused by Jessica's body had any relation to or influence on the murder of Nanjo.
  68. This also applies to Battler and Eva.
  69. ...neither Jessica nor Battler nor Eva is the culprit who killed Nanjo.
  70. Nanjo was killed by another person.
  71. Of course, it was with a direct method of murder, not a trap.
  72. A weapon was readied, and he was killed with it from point-blank range in front of him! ("He" and "him" refer to Doctor Nanjo.)
  73. The culprit appeared openly before Nanjo's eyes, and as they both looked at each other's faces, the culprit killed him.
  74. The red only tells the truth.
  75. Absolutely no factors other than humans participate in this game board.
  76. The one who killed Nanjo was definitely a human.
  77. A human, with their feet on the ground, held up a weapon and killed with it! Right before his eyes! ("His" refers to Doctor Nanjo.)

  55. Kinzo is already dead at the starting time for all games!
  56. Before now, I have proclaimed that no more than 18 humans exist on this island.
  57. I will lower that by one for Kinzo!!
  58. No more than 17 humans exist on this island!!
  59. That excludes any 18th person.
  60. In short, this 18th person X does not exist!!
  61. This applies to all games!!!
  62. Both were killed by another person! (This is referring to the second twilight of Legend of the Golden Witch.)

  4. Bernkastel: After all, Natsuhi is drinking tea all by herself right there.
  5. Bernkastel: I proclaim that Furudo Erika is the detective.
  6. Bernkastel: The detective is not the culprit.;
  7. Bernkastel: No proof is needed to show this.
  8. Lambdadelta: The detective isn't the culprit has been proclaimed in red, so you don't need to consider the exception.
  9. Lambdadelta: Furudo Erika is not the culprit.
  10. Lambdadelta: Furudo Erika had no influence on any of Beato's games before now.
  11. Lambdadelta: She does not exist in the worlds before this one, nor does she influence them.
  12. Lambdadelta: Furudo Erika only increases it by one person. ("it" refers to the number of people on the island)
  13. Lambdadelta: Besides her, the number of people on this island is exactly the same as it was in the previous games.
  14. Lambdadelta: In other words, the number of people in this parlor now is equal to the total number of people on this island.
  15. Lambdadelta: This mountain of gold is the real thing. All of the ingots piled up here are real, pure gold! There are absolutely no tricks such as replicas or fakes!!
  16. Virgilia: This child has nothing to gain from having someone solve the epitaph.
  17. Virgilia: The gold of the Golden Land belongs to this child. She had absolutely no need to make you find it for her or to snatch it away herself.
  18. Virgilia: Whether the epitaph's riddle is solved or not, this child stands nothing to gain at all.
  19. Virgilia: Regardless of whether the epitaph is solved or not, Beato has nothing to gain.
  20. Virgilia: Battler-kun is not the culprit.
  21. Virgilia: Battler-kun didn't kill anyone.
  22. Virgilia: This can be said of all games.

  27. Erika Furudo: Because I am the detective.
  28. Gertrude: from last night at 23:00 until the present time, the study door was not opened even once
  29. Cornelia: the windows were all locked.
  30. Dlanor A. Knox: I will not allow a hidden door to exist in this ROOM.
  31. Erika Furudo: Knox's 3rd. It is forbidden for hidden passages to exist.
  32. Dlanor A. Knox: Denial of that with the red has already been FINISHED. After 23:00, the door to the study was not opened even ONCE.
  33. Dlanor A. Knox: No such drug EXISTS. It must not EXIST.
  34. Dlanor A. Knox: Such a machine does not EXIST. I will not allow it to EXIST.
  35. Dlanor A. Knox: I will REPEAT. By the name of god, I will not let such a drug or machine EXIST. I will not allow them to exist for all ETERNITY.
  36. Getrude: the 'Kinzo' Natsuhi mentions refers to nothing other than Ushiromiya Kinzo
  37. Cornelia: Natsuhi claims to have met face to face with Kinzo in the study at 23:00
  38. Dlanor A. Knox: A check of that place has been FINISHED. (Refers to B5-23)
  39. Dlanor A. Knox: A check of that place has been FINISHED. (Refers to B5-24)
  40. Dlanor A. Knox: Check FINISHED. (Refers to B5-25)
  41. Dlanor A. Knox: CheckFINISHED checkFINISHED checkFINISHED checkcheckcheck FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED checkcheckcheckcheckcheckcheckcheckcheck FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED <Die The death!> <Sentence to death!> <Great equalizer is The Death!> (Refers to B5-26)
  42. Getrude: you cannot leave through the door without Natsuhi thinking something was odd
  43. Getrude: Natsuhi did not hear the sound of the door opening while in the room
  44. Getrude: Kinzo entering or exiting through the door will not be permitted.
  45. Cornelia: this window is sealed from the inside and Natsuhi did not let Kinzo escape...!!
  46. Cornelia: The window was locked from the inside!!
  47. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th.; It is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not PRESENTED...!!
  48. Battler Ushiromiya: When we entered the study, its structure was clearly described
  49. Battler Ushiromiya: 'It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that Kinzo's study was a small villa he had created inside the mansion.'
  50. Battler Ushiromiya: 'A study.; A book archive. A place to sleep. And a bathroom and washroom. It was divided into multiple rooms.'
  51. Virgilia: 'Kinzo is dead at the starting time for all games'
  52. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 2nd.; It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective TECHNIQUE.
  53. Dlanor A. Knox: the window was never opened after it started RAINING
  54. Dlanor A. Knox: 'Kinzo doesn't exist' should already be an established FACT.
  55. Getrude: Before the family conference, Erika, George, Jessica, Maria, Nanjo, Gohda, and Kumasawa left the mansion and moved to the guesthouse.
  56. Cornelia: Of those who remain, only Krauss, Natsuhi, and Genji were in the second floor corridor, while all others were in the dining hall.
  57. Lambdadelta: Krauss, Natsuhi and Genji did not even touch that letter!
  58. Lambdadelta: Not a single person in the dining hall...no, there's a simpler way to say it. Among all those inside the mansion at 24:00, not a single person placed that letter in the corridor.
  59. Lambdadelta: Neither Krauss nor Natsuhi nor Genji knocked!
  60. Lambdadelta: This isn't the limited meaning of them knocking on the door, okay? It means they didn't use a pillar to transmit the sound or push the play button on a cassette tape they'd recorded or create that knock sound by any means! Of course, this applies to direct, indirect, intentional, coincidental, and unintentional means!
  61. Cornelia: at 24:00, except for Krauss, Natsuhi, and Genji in the second floor corridor and all of the people in the dining hall, no humans existed inside the mansion.
  62. Gertrude: Let it be known that in addition to Krauss, Natsuhi, and Genji, none of those in the dining hall made the knock. In this sense, 'knock' includes all direct, indirect, intentional, unintentional, and coincidental events that could create a knocking sound.
  63. Dlanor A. Knox: In short, this means it was impossible for any character within the mansion to be the source of a knocking SOUND. ......And 'any character' refers even to unobserved people that no one has noticed.
  64. Lambdadelta: no one in the mansion placed the letter in the hallway.
  65. Lambdadelta: No one in the mansion placed the letter in the hallway. This includes doing so by all concepts, such as directly, indirectly, intentionally, coincidentally, and unintentionally.
  66. Lambdadelta: At 24:00, only Erika, George, Jessica, Maria, Nanjo, Gohda, and Kumasawa existed outside the mansion
  67. Gertrude: The letter never existed on the ceiling of the hallway.
  68. Cornelia: Know that the letter never touched the serving cart.
  69. Gertrude: It was impossible for anyone outside the mansion to influence anything inside the mansion around the time of the family conference.
  70. Lambdadelta: None of the characters misidentified a knocking sound.
  71. Lambdadelta: Misidentifying a knocking sound means this: they would not mistake a sound very similar to a knocking sound for a real knocking sound. Hitting a pillar to make something similar to a knocking sound is no good. When you record a knocking sound on a cassette tape and play it back, it becomes 'the sound of the tape with a knocking sound on it', and not a knocking sound. So that's no good either!
  72. Lambdadelta: In other words, all of them would correctly distinguish a knocking sound of something truly hitting the door, and they definitely wouldn't mishear it. It's totally impossible that any sounds except hitting that door directly would be misinterpreted as a knock!!
  73. Lambdadelta: 'To knock' means someone hitting a door with their hand, right?
  74. Lambdadelta: And none of them misinterpreted a knocking sound. Krauss, Natsuhi, and Genji were not involved with the knock. No one else existed inside the mansion. And that knock refers to the action of standing directly in front of a door and hitting it with a hand.
  75. Virgilia: anyone looking at George, Jessica, Maria, Rosa, or Genji's corpses could confirm at a glance that they are dead
  76. Beatrice: At a glance, anyone could confirm that these corpses are dead, so it is absolutely impossible that they are just people playing dead.
  77. Natsuhi Ushiromiya: I never told anyone except Shannon that I like Fall.
  78. Bernkastel: In other words, after Kumasawa returned to the guesthouse, she never went to the second floor until morning.
  79. Bernkastel: In other words, after Gohda returned to the guesthouse, he never went up to the second floor until morning.
  80. Bernkastel: At 24:00 in the guesthouse, George, Jessica, and Maria were alive and in the second floor cousins' room. Nanjo, Gohda, and Kumasawa were on the first floor.
  81. Bernkastel: George, Jessica, Maria, Rosa, and Genji really are dead.
  82. Bernkastel: at 24:00, Natsuhi, Krauss, and Genji were in a corridor on the second floor of the mansion. All the remaining people were at the family conference in the dining hall. Of course, at that point in time, no murder had occurred. Genji was also alive.
  83. Bernkastel: From 1:00 AM to 3:00 AM, Erika, Nanjo, and Gohda spent their time in the lounge on the first floor of the guesthouse.
  84. Bernkastel: After 24:00, Erika was with Nanjo the whole time until 3:00 AM.
  85. Bernkastel: Both your seal and your red truth are perfect. Nanjo had the alibi of being with Erika until 3:00 AM. And he didn't leave his room after 3:00 AM until morning.
  86. Lambdadelta: Ushiromiya Battler returned to the cousins' room at 3:00 AM and fell asleep. After that, until the discovery of the crime, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened in the room!
  87. Bernkastel: In other words, it was impossible for Battler to commit murder or damage the corpses.
  88. Bernkastel: It is impossible for someone to reach the second floor of the guesthouse without anyone in the lounge noticing it. ......Though of course, this only refers to reaching the second floor from inside the building.
  89. Lambdadelta: It was impossible to reach the second floor of the guesthouse without passing through the lounge, and impossible to reach it at all without Erika, who was in the lounge, knowing about it!
  90. Bernkastel: At 24:00, Natsuhi, Krauss, and Genji were in the corridor on the second floor of the mansion. The rest of them were in the dining hall on the first floor.
  91. Bernkastel: Of all the people in the dining hall, not one of them left the dining hall until 1:00 AM...!
  92. Bernkastel: The red truth is simply truth, and there is no need to provide evidence, proof, or room for a counter-argument!!
  93. Bernkastel: When Genji finished transferring the call, he immediately returned to the waiting room.
  94. Bernkastel: At 1:00 AM, Eva sealed Genji's waiting room, and that seal was broken by Kanon and Kumasawa in the morning when the crime was discovered.
  95. Bernkastel: During the short break at 1:00 AM, the first two to leave the dining hall were Rosa and Eva. Until Eva returned, everyone in the dining hall remained there. After seeing Rosa off, Eva went to the waiting room and sealed it. Of course, she did not enter the room at all at this time.
  96. Bernkastel: Genji never left the mansion after 24:00
  97. Virgilia: Ushiromiya Natsuhi is not the culprit!
  98. Bernkastel: Ushiromiya Krauss is not the culprit. And he was killed long ago, shortly after you heard his voice over the phone, get it?
  99. Bernkastel: Natsuhi. When did Kinzo ever say it was okay for you to engrave the One-winged Eagle into your heart? Those were just the words of the Kinzo from your delusions, weren't they? ......You know, the real Kinzo... Not once in his entire life did he ever trust you from the bottom of his heart, and not once did he ever consider letting you bear the family crest!
  100. Bernkastel: The real Kinzo wouldn't say that. Disappear. You, the illusion of Kinzo inside Natsuhi's mind, beautified by Natsuhi to suit her own purposes.
  101. Bernkastel: Pitiful woman. You will now face the truth that you never gained Ushiromiya Kinzo's trust as long as he lived.
  102. Dlanor A. Knox: Due to the above, the seals are guaranteed to be PERFECT. <Miss> Erika's seals were not broken by anyone, and deception is IMPOSSIBLE!!
  103. Dlanor A. Knox: Eva's seal was of the same type as <Miss> Erika's. That is because this method of sealing was one that <Miss> Erika and Eva conceived of together after DINNER.
  104. Gertrude: It is impossible to tear off any of the seals by any method without leaving marks.
  105. Cornelia: There were no suspicious marks on any of the seals...!
  106. Bernkastel: All of Erika and Eva's seals were not tampered with in any way that hindered their ability to act as seals, such as being scraped off.
  107. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 3rd. It is forbidden for hidden passages to EXIST!
  108. Dlanor A. Knox: As the detective, <Miss> Erika sealed all ENTRANCES.
  109. Dlanor A. Knox: Passages that the detective cannot find are hidden PASSAGES.
  110. Dlanor A. Knox: Therefore, there are no entrances that <Miss> Erika cannot find!!
  111. Gertrude: Lady Erika's lookout in the lounge was perfect.
  112. Gertrude: There were no small gaps or carelessness or times when she looked away for even a second.
  113. Cornelia: Therefore, during their entire meeting in the lounge, only Rosa went up to the second floor!
  114. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 10th, it is forbidden for a character to disguise themselves as another without any CLUES!
  115. Dlanor A. Knox: There have been no hints suggesting that someone had disguised themselves as Rosa!
  116. Dlanor A. Knox: Furthermore, Erika has confirmed that she wasn't carrying any luggage large enough to hide a human IN!
  117. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 1st. It is forbidden for the culprit to be anyone not mentioned in the early part of the STORY!
  118. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 4th. It is forbidden for unknown drugs or hard to understand scientific devices to be USED!!
  119. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th. It is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not PRESENTED!!
  120. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 6th. It is forbidden for accident or intuition to be employed as a detective TECHNIQUE!!
  121. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 7th. It is forbidden for the detective to be the CULPRIT!!
  122. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th. It is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not PRESENTED!!
  123. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 9th. It is permitted for observers to let their own conclusions and interpretations be heard!
  124. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th. It is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not PRESENTED!!
  125. Gertrude: All deaths were homicides.
  126. Cornelia: none of the corpses would ever lead to a mistaken autopsy
  127. Gertrude: no corpses exist except those of characters who have appeared in the story
  128. Cornelia: the red truth is simply truth, and there is no need to provide evidence or proof
  129. Battler Ushiromiya: Ushiromiya Natsuhi is not the culprit!!!
  130. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 2nd. It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective technique.
  131. Dlanor A. Knox: The trial is now FINISHED. FINISHED. FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINI FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINI FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHEDFINISHED FINISHED! <Die the death>! <Sentence to death>!!<Great equalizer is the death>!!
  132. Lambdadelta: Kinzo is already dead.
  133. Bernkastel: From 24:00 until morning, Kinzo stayed in the same room.
  134. Bernkastel: Kinzo does not exist anywhere outside the mansion.
  135. Bernkastel: Kinzo does not exist outside the mansion.
  136. Bernkastel: Kinzo is nowhere outside the mansion. Kinzo isn't on the third floor. Kinzo isn't in the basement. Kinzo isn't on the first floor. Therefore, the only place Kinzo could possibly exist is the second floor.
  137. Bernkastel: Kinzo does not exist anywhere outside Natsuhi's room!
  138. Bernkastel: During the night, between 24:00 and morning, a living Kinzo could not have existed anywhere outside Natsuhi's room!!
  139. Bernkastel: During the night, between 24:00 and morning, there exists no place for a living Kinzo to exist except inside your bed.
  140. Bernkastel: From 24:00 until morning, a living Kinzo could only have existed inside Natsuhi's bed. And last night, Natsuhi also slept in that same bed.
  141. Bernkastel: The real Kinzo never once ordered Natsuhi to protect that honor.
  1. Virgilia: Beato wanted you to solve it,;so she made this game...the riddles of this tale...solvable.
  2. Battler Ushiromiya: Beato wanted me to solve it, so she made the riddles of this game solvable
  3. Battler Ushiromiya: Beato wanted me to solve it, so she made the riddles of this game solvable
  4. Battler Ushiromiya: I can construct a theory with someone other than Natsuhi oba-san as the culprit.
  5. Battler Ushiromiya: It's possible to show a different truth by using a different interpretation!!
  6. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 1st. It is forbidden for the culprit to be anyone not mentioned in the early part of the story! A person first introduced in the 5th game cannot be named as the CULPRIT...!!
  7. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th. It is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not presented!
  8. Battler Ushiromiya: The red truth from the 4th game that I am not the son of my mother Asumu.
  9. Battler Ushiromiya: The feeling that Dad was hiding something in both the first game and this game.
  10. Battler Ushiromiya: In particular, in this game, it was made clear that there were some special circumstances having to do with my birth.
  11. Erika Furudo: During that one hour, you were in the dining hall of the mansion!!
  12. Battler Ushiromiya: It has not been specified that the time of death was between 24:00 and 1:00.
  13. Erika Furudo: From 1:00 AM until the discovery of the crime, it was impossible for the crime to occur in the cousins' room!!
  14. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 8th. If the crime actually was carried out in the cousins' room, clues must have been SHOWN. Because clues were not given to the detective, Lady Erika, who was on the watch for any abnormalities inside that room until morning, such a crime is IMPOSSIBLE...!!
  15. Erika Furudo: The death of the four in the cousins' room has been proclaimed with the red text!!
  16. Erika Furudo: The deaths of the four people in the cousins' room have been proclaimed with the red truth!! Furthermore, those corpses were witnessed by a large number of people!! Furthermore, it's already been proclaimed in red that an autopsy would not be mistaken for any of those corpses...!!
  17. Ronove: When this court was opened, Lady Lambdadelta made a proclamation. She said this was a 24:00 answer session!
  18. Gaap: .........Ushiromiya Kinzo is already dead at the starting time for all games!
  19. Asmodeus: After George's death, his corpse was never moved!
  20. Beelzebub: After Jessica's death, her corpse was never moved!
  21. Mammon: After Maria's death, her corpse was never moved!
  22. Belphegor: After Rosa's death, her corpse was never moved!
  23. Satan: After Genji's death, his corpse was never moved!
  24. Leviathan: After Krauss's death, his corpse was never moved!
  25. Lucifer: Therefore, the corpses couldn't have vanished after being discovered!! Your theory about Kinzo carrying the corpses away fails!
  26. Dlanor A. Knox: Knox's 2nd!! It is forbidden for supernatural agencies to be employed as a detective technique! If you would show that Kinzo has died with the red truth, then I demand that you display proof of a human's truth which could be used to make that point...!
  27. Battler Ushiromiya: Presentation of evidence. I'll present a corpse which could possibly be identified as Ushiromiya Kinzo's...!!
  28. Battler Ushiromiya: In this closed-off Rokkenjima, there is no objective way to show that this corpse is Grandfather's.
  29. Battler Ushiromiya: Because of this, Grandfather's absence has been verified, and the dishonorable relationship between Natsuhi oba-san and Grandfather has been removed from consideration!!
  30. Battler Ushiromiya: Natsuhi oba-san is pure and faithful! I won't permit this vulgar tale you're all so fond of!!
  31. Battler Ushiromiya: Furthermore. Because we have raised doubts about the time of death for all who have died so far, the alibis for everyone besides Natsuhi oba-san go back to square one...!!
  32. Battler Ushiromiya: If you try to argue that the crime was impossible for everyone except Natsuhi oba-san, it won't work!!
  33. Dlanor A. Knox: However, in the cousins' room, you witnessed corpses which were impossible to MISIDENTIFY...! Are you trying to say that was a FALSEHOOD?! ...Knox's 7th, it is forbidden for the detective to be the CULPRIT!!
  34. Battler Ushiromiya: Furudo Erika is the detective in this game, not me!!
  35. Battler Ushiromiya: And by Knox's 9th, it is permitted for observers to let their own conclusions and interpretations be heard...!!
  36. Dlanor A. Knox: aKnox's 8th, it is forbidden for the case to be resolved with clues that are not PRESENTED! Until now, you have been the DETECTIVE! Was it ever shown that you were not the detective this time, and that you were an observer with a subjective VIEWPOINT?!! Unless it was, you do not have the right to falsify your point of VIEW!!
  37. Battler Ushiromiya: In this game! When I figured out the device of the epitaph's riddle, I witnessed Grandfather. ......As has already been shown in red, Grandfather doesn't exist. It was impossible for me to witness him! Therefore, it has already been shown that my viewpoint wasn't objective!!
  38. Battler Ushiromiya: There's the red truth which Beato showed during the 4th game!! No person would mistake Ushiromiya Kinzo by sight!
  39. Battler Ushiromiya: In other words, on this island, all illusions which might lead someone to mistake something for Grandfather, including someone else pretending to be Grandfather, 'most certainly cannot work'.
  40. Battler Ushiromiya: Because of the right granted by Knox's 9th, people are allowed to mistake a sheet in the wind for anything else and tell about it. ......However! Mistaking it for Grandfather in particular is not permitted in this game due to the red truth!!

Dawn of the Golden Witch

  1. Featherine: ...that Beatrice will never revive again. (refers to Beatrice)
  2. MARIA: This is a story of something that really happened!! (refers to a story about Beatrice's use of magic)
  3. MARIA: There were no tricks like that!! It was just an ordinary table and an ordinary cup!!
  4. Erika Furudo: Your so-called candy magic is nothing more than a sleight of hand!! Just a sleight of hand that the fake witch calling herself Beatrice or whatever claimed was magic!!
  5. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "The rooms with six people in them are all closed ROOMS.")
  6. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "The definition of a closed room implies that it is impossible to construct from the OUTSIDE")
  7. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "The definition of a closed room implies that all forms of interference that pass between the inside and outside of the room are PREVENTED")
  8. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "At the time of the deconstruction of the closed rooms, none existed within the rooms except the VICTIMS")
  9. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "After the deconstruction of the closed rooms, then excluding me, only Krauss, Rudolf, Hideyoshi, and Gohda entered the rooms")
  10. BATTLER: Krauss, Rudolf, Hideyoshi, and Gohda...were not involved in the murders of Natsuhi, Eva, Kyrie, Rosa, Maria, and Battler.
  11. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "The victims did not die by any method other than HOMICIDE")
  12. BATTLER: I acknowledge it. (refers to "Natsuhi is in her room, Eva is in the VIP room, Kyrie is in Krauss's study, Rosa and Maria are in the parlor, and you are in the guest room!")
  13. BATTLER: Acknowledged. (refers to "Hideyoshi, George, Shannon, Kumasawa, and Nanjo are in the next room over!")
  14. BATTLER: I acknowledge that everyone else is in the cousin room.
  15. Dlanor A. Knox: ...the complete sealing of both the cousin's room and the next room over has been GUARANTEED.
  16. Dlanor A. Knox: ...We have confirmed that the seals to the guest room are UNDAMAGED.
  17. Dlanor A. Knox: ...Since the time Lady Erika confirmed Battler's presence, this closed room has been PRESERVED.
  18. Lambdadelta: I swear that I am impartial in my judgements.
  19. BATTLER: Ushiromiya Battler is not on the bed.
  20. BATTLER: Knox's 3rd. It is forbidden for hidden passage to exist. (refers to B6-9)
  21. Chick Beatrice: No hidden places that are impossible for Erika-san to find exist inside the guest room. (refers to B6-9)
  22. Dlanor A. Knox: Except for one location, there is one to be seen in the BEDROOM.
  23. Dlanor A. Knox: No one was seen in the BATHROOM.
  24. Erika Furudo: ...except for one location, Battler does not exist anywhere inside the guest room.
  25. BATTLER: Ushiromiya Battler does not exist within the guest room. ...There are no exceptions, including the closet.
  26. Erika Furudo: ...At that time, I immediately closed the door, reset the chain, and sealed this room. (refers to the room Battler's corpse was originally found in at the of Erika entering the room.}}
  27. Bernkastel: Erika repaired the chain lock. (refers to B6-14)
  28. Lambdadelta: Erika used that packing tape to join the two cut ends of the chain together, 'sealing' them.
  29. Lambdadelta: In other words, the chain was repaired by the packing tape, and this room once again became a closed room locked from the inside.
  30. Lambdadelta: The use of the packing tape wasn't limited by the number of strips, right?
  31. Lambdadelta: It was by the number of rooms.
  32. Lambdadelta: ...The only restriction was to limit it to only three rooms.
  33. Lambdadelta: Erika chose this guest room to be one of those rooms.
  34. Lambdadelta: So, Erika has the right to seal as many places as many times as she wants within this room. ("this room" refers to the room Battler's corpse was originally found in)
  35. Erika Furudo: ...I proclaim that the chain lock has been repaired by the packing tape seal and has regained its original functionality.
  36. Erika Furudo: And, thanks to that, I locked the room upon entering it and made the guest room a closed room from the inside once more.
  37. BATTLER: The lock caused by the chain is intact.
  38. Dlanor A. Knox: USHIROMIYA KYRIE CANNOT SAVE BATTLER.
  39. Dlanor A. Knox: Ushiromiya Kyrie...cannot save Battler.
  40. Dlanor A. Knox: Ushiromiya Natsuhi cannot save Battler.
  41. Dlanor A. Knox: Ushiromiya Eva cannot save Battler.
  42. Dlanor A. Knox: USELESS. Rosa and Maria cannot save him EITHER. ...DEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATHDEATH <Die the Death>! <Sentence to Death>! <Great Equalizer is the Death>!!
  43. Erika Furudo: I re-killed all of them.
  44. Bernkastel: ...she completely severed the heads of all those she killed.
  45. Erika Furudo: All five people I killed...were very much alive until the moment I killed them.
  46. Cornelia and Gertrude: Please, allow me to speak. Know that neither is broken. (refers to Erika's tape seals)
  47. Gertrude: Know that an unbroken seal proves that there are still none who have entered or exited.
  48. Cornelia: It needs no second telling, but know that entry or exit without breaking the seal is impossible.
  49. Erika Furudo: ...this room is a closed room created from the inside.
  50. Erika Furudo: The seals on the windows are intact, so there can be no escape through there.
  51. Erika Furudo: Of course, there is no way to escape by leaving through the bathroom.
  52. Erika Furudo: I'll make it simple.
  53. Erika Furudo: There is no exit to escape from except for this door.
  54. Erika Furudo: However, the chain lock on this door is set.
  55. Erika Furudo: Furthermore, you are free to go out through the door, but you cannot leave or escape while the chain lock is unset.
  56. Erika Furudo: You can unset and reset it all you want, but you can only do so from the inside.
  57. Dlanor A. Knox: IMPOSSIBLE. The window seals were also INTACT. Of course, this is at the time of the logic ERROR. (refers to B6-14)
  58. Gertrude: Know that it is forbidden for the blue truth to be used if based on the argument that the window seals of the next room over were torn at the time of the logic error.[1]
  59. Cornelia: Know that the opposing side is under no obligation to respond to the the aforementioned blue truth...!
  60. Beatrice: The one who rescued Battler was, without a doubt, Kanon.
  61. Beatrice: Battler and Kanon are different people.
  62. Erika Furudo: The cousin room is guaranteed to be a perfect closed room until the end. (used in tandem with B6-16)
  63. Erika Furudo: It is true that the next room over was sealed, but at the time of the Logic Error, only the doors were checked to see whether the seals were preserved. (used in tandem with B6-17)
  64. Beatrice: At the time the next room over was sealed, Hideyoshi, George, Kumasawa, Shannon, and Nanjo were in it.
  65. Beatrice: And, the number of people in the next room over was five.
  66. Beatrice: No one existed there except for those to whom those five names refer!
  67. Beatrice: All people can only go by their own names!!
  68. Beatrice: At the time Battler was rescued, only Kanon entered the guest room.
  69. Beatrice: I acknowledge it. From the time you entered the room to the time of the Logic Error, you, Battler, and Kanon were the only ones who went in or out of the guest room.
  70. Beatrice: I acknowledge it. It refers to three people: you, Battler, and Kanon.
  71. Beatrice: Of course. Three people--in other words, three bodies--went in or out. Only you and Kanon entered, and only Battler left. It has already been said in red that all people can only use their own names. Therefore, the names Erika, Battler, and Kanon can only be used by those people.
  72. Beatrice: Of course! (refers to "I am not the rescuer")
  73. Beatrice: I'll define 'rescuer' to mean any person who rest the chain lock after Battler unset it. This definition applies whether said person intended to rescue Battler or not.
  74. Beatrice: I acknowledge it. (refers to 'Going in or out refers to when someone crosses the boundary between the guest room and the area outside it.')
  75. Beatrice: I acknowledge it. (refers to 'By the guest room, we're referring to the entirety of the bedroom, the bathroom, and the closet.')
  76. Beatrice: I also recognize it as such. Furthermore, you have already confirmed with the red truth that two of those sections, the bedroom and the bathroom, had no one hiding in them. (refers to 'The inside of the guest room is divided into three sections: the bedroom, the bathroom, and the closet.')
  77. Erika Furudo: The game ended while I was inside the guest room, so I did not undo the chain lock that I had previously set.
  78. Erika Furudo: So, it can't be that he escaped after I left the room.
  79. Erika Furudo: Furthermore, the chain lock was set at the same time I entered the room. No one could have left he room during the few seconds between the time I entered and the time I set the chain lock.
  80. Erika Furudo: The guest room as sealed at the time Battler's corpse was examined, so until I came again and broke the seals, it was absolutely impossible for anyone to go in or out. Therefore, when I entered the room, it is certain that Battler was hiding somewhere inside the guest room. To be even more specific, he had no chance to escape except for the time I was in the bathroom.
  81. Beatrice: Kanon does not exist in the bedroom. (refers to B6-21)
  82. Beatrice: Kanon does not exist in the guest room.
  83. Beatrice: ......Of course, this includes all parts of the closet, the bedroom, and the bathroom.
  84. Erika Furudo: Hi, pleased to meet you! I'm Furudo Erika, the detective!! I may be an uninvited guest, but please, welcome me!! I'm the visit, the 18th human on Rokkenjima!!
  85. Beatrice: Even if you do join us- (refers to previous statement)
  86. Beatrice and BATTLER: That makes 17 humans.

Requiem of the Golden Witch

  1. Willard H. Wright: It is forbidden for a servant to be the culprit!!
  2. Willard H. Wright: ...Van Dine's Twenty Rules, Rule #11.
  3. Willard H. Wright: Van Dine's Twenty Rules, Rule #7. It is forbidden to have a crime without a corpse.
  4. Willard H. Wright: Rule #1. It is forbidden to have a crime without all clues presented. (refers to B7-1)
  5. Bernkastel: Don't worry. Everything is gathered here. (refers to previous statement)
  1. Bernkastel: This is all true. (refers to the events of the EP7 Tea Party)[2]
  2. Willard H. Wright: Rule #1. It is forbidden to have a crime without all clues presented.
  1. Bernkastel: I won't give this game a happy ending. (refers to Twilight of the Golden Witch)

Twilight of the Golden Witch

  1. Bernkastel: All doors can only be locked or unlocked with a master key.
  2. Bernkastel: Of course, there are other ways to lock the doors from inside the room even without a master key.
  3. Bernkastel: [In this game], we'll consider master keys to be the only keys that exist.
  4. Bernkastel: There are five master keys total. One is held by each of the five servants.
  5. Bernkastel: The servants keep the master keys on their person at all times so it is impossible for them to be stolen, handed over, or used by any human other than themselves.
  6. Bernkastel: All of the windows had steel bars on them, so it is impossible to enter or leave by them.
  7. Bernkastel: We'll say that they can seal the whole mansion by sealing the two doors, the front one and the back one.
  8. Bernkastel: The culprit of the first twilight really did kill six people.
  9. Bernkastel: The group sealed the room at the same time they left. No culprit joined the group as they left. Also, all of the seals on Natsuhi's room, the dining hall, and the mansion itself will not be broken. (refers to B8-1)
  10. Bernkastel: From now on, Kanon is treated as being killed. Also, Kanon's master key is treated as being destroyed.
  11. Bernkastel: Outside of spoken statements, there are no lies in the narration. (Refers to the final game)
  12. Lambdadelta: I guarantee that it is possible to pinpoint the culprit with this information. (Refers to the final game)
  13. Erika Furudo: It's possible to form a logical explanation other than the Rudolf's family culprit theory. (refers to B8-3)
  14. Erika Furudo: No, it is possible. A 'culprit' is defined as 'one who murders'. No one ever said they have to murder a character who appears in the story. (refers to B8-5)
  15. Erika Furudo: In other words...if George committed murder outside the island, sometime before this crime, he could be a 'culprit' without killing anyone on the island, and it would be possible for him to lie.
  16. Featherine Augustus Aurora: Ushiromiya Eva's diary, the Book of the Single Truth, has the truth of Rokkenjima during October 4th and 5th, 1986, recorded within it.
  17. Erika Furudo: It wasn't a suicide, it wasn't an accidental death, it wasn't a death by illness. I really was killed by you, Battler-san!!!
  18. Erika Furudo: There was no poison gas, there was no drowning, there was no death by suffocation!!
  19. BATTLER: Ushiromiya Battler was stabbed to death!!
  20. BATTLER: Let's say the weapon was a knife, stuck right into his back!!
  21. Erika Furudo: Furudo Erika was stabbed to death!
  22. Erika Furudo: The weapon was a knife, stuck right in her back!!
  23. Beatrice: I killed you inside a perfect closed room, with windows, doors, and all other methods of entry or exit blocked!! ("I" refers to Ange Ushiromiya)
  24. BATTLER: My closed room doesn't involve anything being repaired!!
  25. Beatrice: I deny all of your blue wedges with the red truth. None of the methods you suggest could defeat my closed room!!
  26. Beatrice: It's useless.
  27. Beatrice: You cannot break this closed room.
  28. Beatrice: This closed room is perfect...!
  29. Beatrice: And yet, I will kill you in this closed room!!
  30. Bernkastel: When the seal on the Book of the Single Truth is dissolved, you, Ange, will be the first to read it.
  31. Tohya Hachijo: The truth is recorded in this diary.[3]
  32. Goats: This is...the truth of the Rokkenjima incident!!
  33. Goats: After all, *********, ******************!! *********************************!!!

Last note of the Golden Witch

  1. Piece: The purpose of this game is to expose my identity. It is not a question of affirming or denying fantasy.
  2. Piece: I am a person who has existed from Episode 1 through Episode 8. (Responding to B9-1)
  3. Piece: During Episodes 1-8, I existed and had that power. And now, due to the wishes of my master, I am showing you this power for the first time. ("that power" refers to erasing existences)
  4. Piece: You three definitely know my name. In other words, my existence and name is one that exists within all of your memories. ("You three" refers to Battler, Beatrice, and Ange)
  5. Piece: There is motive and heart behind this incident.
  6. Piece: ––I have reason to make Beato, Kyrie, Ange, Kinzo, Kanon, Shannon, and Genji disappear.
  7. Piece: In order for me to come onto this gameboard, they were pieces that should not exist. For several of the victims, I originally was going to allow them to live. However, because of their circumstances, I couldn't allow them to stay on the game board. Therefore, they were removed. Don't misunderstand. Their removal does not neglect the heart...However, for those I truly wanted to kill, I ignored the heart and showed them no mercy or pity as I removed them from the gameboard.
  8. Piece: Aren't riddles my specialty? I'm even better at them than you are. ("You" refers to Beatrice)
  9. Piece: So you were completely immersed in solving riddles, since around the time you met Battler? Isn't ten or so years such a small stretch of time? Unlike you, I"m not a little girl. Ever since before you were born, I had always loved riddles, and was very good at them...It's regrettable that I wasn't able to challenge the riddle of the epitaph. If I had challenged the riddle of the epitaph together with you, we surely could've solved the childish wordplay that grandpa frantically dreamt up...But...This time, I tried to challenge the riddle of the epitaph for the first time, as the Witch of Pieces. It was easy!
  10. Piece: Ange...Of course you wouldn't know...Because even though you know my name, we have never met even once. Furthermore, I will say this. Until I became the Witch of Pieces, I did not know your name, or even that you existed.

Trivia

  • When Erika reads Natsuhi's diary in End of the Golden Witch, it is mentioned that the diary is red, perhaps hinting at the "truthfulness" of diaries.

Notes

  1. ^ This red truth is the only one used in Umineko no Naku Koro ni which is reversed later in the story.
  2. ^ This red truth is incomplete when it is first said; Bernkastel clarifies in Twilight of the Golden Witch that she intended to say "That this is all truth...isn't necessarily so" but was interrupted by Ange.
  3. ^ This red truth is the only one in Umineko no Naku Koro ni that is used in the real world.
