The first anime series produced by [[w:Studio Deen|Studio Deen]] and directed by [[w:Chiaki Kon|Chiaki Kon]], covers the four question arcs and the first two answer arcs. The original ''Higurashi no Naku Koro ni'' anime adaptation aired in Japan between April 4 and September 26, 2006, comprising twenty-six episodes. Most of the characters were used by the same voice actors for the drama CD series.
